NJSIAA Boys Tournament Update
The win over Triton on Saturday clinched OCHS a spot in the Group 3 Tournament for the third straight year and the 12th time in John Bruno's 18 years. This is the final week before the Feb. 3 NJSIAA deadline and, even though the Raiders are in the field, this is still an important week.
It looks like from 12-14 teams could qualify in Group 3, with Shawnee the team to beat. With another win or two this week, Ocean City could get a home game in the opening round.
The Raiders host Hammonton on Tuesday, a team that beat them by nine the first time around. On Thursday they go to Vineland. The Clan plays Atlantic City tomorrow night so their team could either be sky high after winning that crucial game or down after a loss. On Saturday, Ocean City visits Absegami. The Raiders will play Gami again three days later at home.
There are three CAL teams that are "on the tournament bubble", needing one or more wins this week to qualify. They are Oakcrest, Millville and St. Joseph.
