Absegami girls win 11th straight Group 4 game
Absegami, which has won two straight NJSIAA state Group 4 championships, won its 11th consecutive Group 4 game tonight, beating Southern, 60-53. The Braves jumped out to a 21-10 lead in the first period then held on. Sara Mostafa scored 20 and Tara Booker added 19. Gami will be at home again on Friday, hosting Lenape.
Egg Harbor Township lost to Cherokee, 69-32, in Group 4. Jamila Garrett scored 10 for EHT.
In Group 2, Pleasantville lost a high-scoring battle to Manchester, 98-71. The two teams combined for 58 points in just the third quarter. Six players scored in double figures, four of them over 20, led by Pleasantville's Aminah Davis with 31. And Bridgeton lost its halftime lead when Cinnaminson rallied in the second half to win, 54-38.
On Thursday night, Wildwood will debut in Group 1 against Gloucester in a game being broadcast on 98.7-The Coast by Scott Wahl and Joe Schiff. Ocean City will start play in Group 3, hosting Central Regional in a game being broadcast on 94.3 FM. Middle Township will be at Highland and Woodrow Wilson at Lower Cape May in other Group 3 games. And Holy Spirit opens in Non-Public A at home against Holy Cross.
