Trenton teams are given top two seeds in Girls Tournament of Champions

The two state champions from Trenton were given the top two seeds in the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions, which begins Tuesday night at the Ritacco Center in Toms River. But the two teams were seeded opposite the outcome of their regular season game.

In the final game of the regular season, Trenton Catholic Academy defeated Trenton Central at Trenton Central's gym. But Trenton Central was seeded No. 1 and TCA was No. 2 for the TOC.

The No. 3 seed is University High School of Newark, which will face No. 6 seeded Willingboro on Tuesday night in a TOC quarterfinal. In the other. No. 4 Red Bank Catholic will play No. 5 Rumson-Fair Haven for the fourth time this season. RBC won two of the previous three meetings.

The winner of the University-Willingboro game will play Trenton Catholic on Thursday in one semifinal at the Ritacco Center while Trenton Central will face the RBC-Rumson winner in the other. Thursday night's winners will play on March 19 for the TOC championship at the Continental Airlines Arena in The Meadowlands.

The boys quarterfinal doubleheader will be Wednesday night at the Ritacco Center and the semifinals on Friday at Rutgers.
