Nancy White, Trey Severs named to All-Group 3 teams
In addition to Paul Baruffi's choice as South Jersey Girls Basketball Coach of the Year last weekend by the Courier-Post - covered in your current edition of The Gazette - the daily newspaper also honored Ocean City High School athletes by selection to all-group teams.
Nancy White, who helped the Raiders win 20 straight, including the overall Cape-Atlantic League girls basketball championship, was named to the All-Group 3 first team. White led the Raiders in scoring and led the American Conference in assists. A review of the 2006-07 season, including final stats, is in this week's Gazette. White was the only junior on the five-player first team, which also included Stephanie Agger of Lower Cape May.
Trey Severs was named to the All-Group 3 second team in boys basketball. Severs set a CAL record and three OCHS records this season, which are outlined in this week's boys season review in The Gazette. Middle Township's Mike Farrow was named to the Group 3 first team.
And the boys 400 meter freestyle relay team of George Santer, Pat Lavin, John Vogel and Gene Taylor was chosen to the second team, All-Division B. Taylor is the only senior of the four. Santer and Lavin are juniors, Vogel a sophomore.
All together, in addition to the 23 athletes selected to All-South Jersey first teams who were listed in the stories in this week's Gazettes, Leader and Currents, there were 15 others from the CAL who were named to All-South Jersey second teams.
