Kayla Ghanavati just keeps winning

It's hard to predict Kayla Ghanavati's future.

We could see her on ESPN, running or jumping for her college team or scoring on the soccer field.

We could see her on American Idol - she sings beautifully, frequently performing the National Anthem at home Raider basketball games.

We could see her on the Miss America Pageant (if it ever finds a new TV home). She has already competed in a pageant and was part of the Ocean City homecoming court last fall.

Kayla is a versatile and talented young woman.

On Thursday, she continued her track success, winning the 100, 200 and triple jump in Ocean City's split with Mainland and EHT in a tri-meet. Her 35-5 triple jump bettered her school record in the event by more than a foot.

Last year, when she broke the 25-year old school record in the 100, she joined Carla Roberts, Renee Tomlin and Kellie Adams as the only three girls to currently hold two OCHS track records.

That is something to sing about!

    Mr. Williams:

Thanks for writing such a nice article
on Kayla. Next year, she will be attending TCNJ and plans to compete in track, soccer and even take an opera class as an elective. The college is a perfect fit for her interests.

I would also like to inform you that Kayla currently holds three school individual records. She holds the 100m, 200m and triple jump. She broke the 200m record (Carla Robert's old record) last spring at sectionals. She is the only female athlete who holds three individual records at OCHS!
