The OCHS baseball team rallies for another win
Ocean City High School's baseball team scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and defeated Oakcrest, 9-8, this afternoon. It was the 2nd straight win for Craig Mensinger's Raiders after losing their first six. Mike Wilson was the winning pitcher, D.J. Menchaca and Corey McDaniels each doubled. Oakcrest had beaten OCHS, 8-5, in the season opener.
In a schedule quirk, because of a rain postponement, Ocean City will play Lower Cape May in its next two games - Saturday (11am) at Lower and Monday (4pm) at 5th & Bay. The Raiders are in the midst of a stretch that has them playing five games in seven days. Oakcrest (3-7) will play Millville at home Monday in its next game.
Also today, the OCHS softball team lost its 6th straight when Rebecca Turygan of Oakcrest pitched a no-hitter in a 10-0 victory, stopped after five innings. The Raiders had beaten Turygan, 7-6, in their season opener. John Bruno's team will host Lower Cape May (11am) Saturday morning and Middle Township (4pm) on Monday.
