Lower outslugs Ocean City in baseball rematch
Ocean City and Lower Cape May brought out the big bats again today.
The two teams had played Saturday with the Raiders winning, 15-9. Today it was Lower coming away with the victory, 16-12. In the two games, the teams combined for 52 runs, 50 hits, 17 extra base hits and 5 home runs.
Today, Eric R. Halbruner had a pair of three-run home runs for the Tigers to make the difference. Matt Szczur also hit a three-run homer for Lower. Adam Lauer and Colton Ortolf each had two hits for Ocean City, each hitting a two-run home run.
Both teams have work to do before the NJSIAA's May 11 deadline to qualify in Group 3. OCHS (3-7) must win five straight. Lower (4-6) needs to win three of four.

In other Monday action, the Ocean City boys tennis team lost to Atlantic City, 3-2, but Raider freshman Dan Barrus won in straight sets, qualifying him for the NJSIAA singles tournament.
And the Middle Township softball team scored five times in the sixth inning to pull away from Ocean City for a 10-4 win.
