Just How Good Is Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit has quite a football team. But how good?
The Spartans are ranked No. 1 in the Online 25 which considers all teams that play in South Jersey tournaments.
The Philadelphia Inquirer ranks them No. 2 behind Cherokee. They had been No. 3 behind Absegami but the Braves dropped out when they lost.
The Courier-Post, which has that unique large school-small school ranking system, lists the Spartans at No. 2 among small schools behind Holy Cross.
The Star-Ledger, in its statewide ranking, places Holy Spirit at No. 4, behind Don Bosco Prep, St. Peter's Prep and Wayne Hills. Incidentally, neither Bosco nor St. Peter's is in Spirit's group for the NJSIAA playoffs.
The Gannett State Top 20, which was published Tuesday but does not seem to available online, ranks Spirit No. 10. Among the nine teams ranked ahead of Holy Spirit are Immaculata, which eliminated the Spartans from playoff action last year, plus St. Joseph-Montvale and Delbarton, who are also in Spirit's playoff group.
