Mainland Takes Control of American Conference Football

Ron Moody ran 41 yards for the game's only touchdown as Mainland defeated Hammonton, 6-2, in a Saturday night game. The win puts the Mustangs in control of the American Conference. They must now beat either Vineland or Egg Harbor Township to clinch their first conference title since 2003.

In an afternoon game, Pleasantville won its first game of the season, 28-10, over Lower Cape May, which dropped to 0-7.

Tomorrow, Ocean City is at Atlantic City at 4pm and Absegami plays at EHT starting at 4:30.

With their wins last night, Holy Spirit and St. Joseph set the stage for their big showdown next Saturday in Hammonton. St. Joe has won 37 straight, the longest streak in CAL football history and the 3rd longest in South Jersey history. The Wildcats last loss was on Sept. 24, 2003 to Holy Spirit, 13-9.
