Cody Letsinger's Overtime Goal Makes Ocean City Coaches Soccer Champs

Cody Letsinger scored with two and one-half minutes left in the second overtime and Ocean City defeated Washington Township, 1-0, tonight in the championship game of the South Jersey Coaches Invitational Soccer Tournament at Eastern Regional High School in Voorhees.

It was a special accomplishment for goalkeeper John Fogarty and the OCHS defense which earned four 1-0 shutout victories in the 16-team tournament. The win improved the Raiders' record to 19-0-1 and was their second championship in the tournament, becoming just the eighth school in the tournament's 37 years to win the championship more than once.

Letsinger, a junior, scored with an assist from Kevin Curran following a direct kick by Neal Melchionni. It was the second overtime win by Ocean City in the tournament. The Raiders begin play Friday afternoon in the NJSIAA Group 3 Tournament.
