William Washington Takes Rushing Lead Into Saturday's Showdown

Holy Spirit's William Washington, whose stats may be incomplete, has gained well over 3,000 yards in less than two seasons and he takes his league-leading rushing total into Saturday's showdown with St. Joseph, winners of 37 straight.

Washington and Dominique Williams of Bridgeton are the first two backs to go over 1,000 yards rushing this season. Among CAL leaders, Keith Corcoran of St. Joe is third, Chris Helm of Hammonton is fourth (and No. 1 in the American Conference) and Nick Hall of Holy Spirit is fifth.

In passing effeciency ratings, Todd Busler of Atlantic City leads with 1,403 yards, 66 percent completion and 10 TD passes. That works out to a 150.6 rating. National Conference leader Nolan Quinn of Middle Township moved up to second, Dustin Thomas of St. Augustine is third, A.J. Holland of Holy Spirit fourth and Joe Kirchon of St. Joseph fifth.

Middle Township senior Bill Hodgdon improved his hold on the No. 1 spot in receiving yardage in the CAL. He has caught 30 passes for 632 yards, more than 21 yards per catch. Hodgdon has a 162-yard lead over Jack Crawford of St. Augustine, who is second. Rounding out the top five in receiving yards are Ocean City's Chris Harris (the American Conference leader), Anthony Barone of Hammonton and Gary Wilson of Oakcrest.
