No Big Surprises In Thanksgiving Football

The results were pretty much what was expected this year as Thanksgiving football ended the 2007 season for all but of the Cape-Atlantic League's teams.

William Washington and Nick Hall each scored twice and A.J. Holland threw a pair of TD passes as Holy Spirit defeated Atlantic City for the 3rd straight year, 32-6. Washington increased his point total this year to 212, fourth highest in South Jersey history.

Nolan Quinn ran for one TD and passed for three others to lead Middle Township over Lower Cape May, 34-19. Quinn finished with 19 TD passes this season, best ever by a CAL sophomore. Bill Hodgdon caught one touchdown and went over 1,000 receiving yards for the year.

Ron Moody scored 3 TDs, including an 86-yard kickoff return, as Mainland held off Egg Harbor Township, 35-21, to win for the 4th straight year. The Eagles rallied from a 20-0 deficit to get within 28-21. Moody, who leads the American Conference in rushing, went over the 1,000-yard mark in the game.

QB Matt Coulter returned to the lineup and scored a TD as Absegami defeated Oakcrest, 14-6. Freshman Bilal Salaam added the other Gami score. Sophomore QB Craig James scored for the Falcons. It marked the 5th straight year Absegami has won the game.

Senior Matt Graham scored the only two TDs of his career in the second half as Ocean City pulled away to a 21-0 win over Pleasantville in a game married by penalties and turnovers. Vinnie Djukanovic scored in the 1st half for OCHS and had another score called back.

And Luke Nelson scored one TD and passed for two others as Vineland defeated Millville, 29-7.

Last night, St. Augustine Prep defeated Buena, 27-6, as Dustin Thomas ran for one TD and passed for another, his 18th TD pass of the season, which stood as the best ever by a CAL sophomore for about 15 hours.
