OCHS Girls Beat Lower - Can Clinch Division on Tuesday
Shannon Lane scored 17 points as Ocean City High School's girls basketball team built a 10-point lead at halftime and held on to beat Lower Cape May, 53-47. The victory put the Raiders in position to clinch their 3rd straight division championship by beating Hammonton on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, in Runnemede, Triton scored 21 unanswered points in a seven-minute stretch of the second and third periods and defeated the Ocean City boys, 65-51. The loss dropped OCHS one game under .500 and means they must win twice next week. They host Lower Cape May on Monday, go to division-leading Hammonton on Tuesday and host division-leading Vineland on Thursday.
Supporting Lane's scoring tonight were Kelly Brady and Nancy White with 10 apiece and Kelsey Boylan with 9. The OC girls visit Highland tomorrow afternoon.
John Fogarty paced the Ocean City boys with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Bud Johnson and Brett Johnson each added 8. The Raiders were 1 for 17 from three-point range.
