Bob McCluskey Retires as AD at St. Joseph

Bob McCluskey, the athletics director at St. Joseph High School for three decades, announced he has retired from that position. He will retain his other position as assistant principal at the Hammonton school. No immediate successor has been named.

In a related story, St. Joseph has been given what amounts to tentative approval to install lights on its football field for the 2009 season. The approval from the Hammonton city planning board is conditional on the school being able to come up with an adequate traffic and parking plan for the facility.

McCluskey, who has coached many sports at St. Joe and served as an officer of the Cape-Atlantic League, is the seventh CAL athletics director to step down within a year.

Scott Lodgek left Absegami and replaced Frank Riggitano at Middle Township. Steve Fortis was later selected to succeed Lodgek at Gami.

Don Robbins left Oakcrest and replaced Robin Daplyn at Vineland. Brian Currie was brought in from Toms River to take over at Oakcrest but he left within six months and has not yet been replaced.

Also, Paul LeFever retired at Ocean City and was succeeded by Chris Lentz. And Keith Gorman replaced Lee Westenberger at Holy Spirit.

Wildwood also changed ADs when Chris Armstrong took over for Jerry France.
