NJSIAA Names Scholar-Athletes


A total 17 athletes from the Cape-Atlantic League were named NJSIAA Scholar-Athletes for 2008-09 and honored at a luncheon in Edison recently. The awards are part of the 16th annual program that was created in 1994 as part of the 75th anniversary of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association. Honored from the CAL’s American Conference were Devon Barber of Absegami, Dan O’Donnell of Atlantic City, Mackenzie Howarth of Egg Harbor Township, Kristen Gazzara of Hammonton, Cindy Chelius of Mainland, Anthony Vorndran of Millville, Gary Carlson of Oakcrest, Anna Ceniccola of Ocean City and Brandon Tomasso of Vineland. The selections from the National Conference were Margaret Sheppard of Bridgeton, Devin Seelman of Buena, Robby Davis of Cape May Tech, Kaitlin Donnelly of Lower Cape May, Ed Obropta of Middle Township, Victoria Imbesi of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauren Galetto of Sacred Heart and Nicole Pagano of St. Joseph. In addition, Rebecca Santora of Wildwood was honored. The scholar-athletes were nominated by their schools for the NJSIAA honor.
